Are there too many producers using the same drum patterns and sounds?

The southern style beat patterns seem to be the sound of choice these days. More and more producers are making beats that have the same drum roll with the same snare and other overly used synth sounds then ever before. I'm starting to wonder if beatmakers are becoming less focused on there own sound versus duplicating the sound and vibe of others... Could be that a lot of us are using the same programs and drum kits and/or are becoming a lil lacks as far as creating our own unique kits and sounds to make beats with... I don't know about anybody else but this fact is enough to keep me out of the loop of that shit. Remember when you could identify who made the beat as soon as the song came on? That's because at 1 point producers had there own signature sound and it brought flavor to the albums we bought, and the radio. Now unfortunately too much of what we hear today sounds the same...The game need more producers who aren't afraid to allow their own signature to shine through.
